A Trip to SIming Mountain (Part 3)
Let me put it this way... it was a very long night at Happy Farmhouse. The bed that I described earlier... the one covered with a bamboo mat... may be located in the Happy Farmhouse, but this camper was not so happy! Without a doubt it was the hardest bed I have ever slept on in my entire life.. like a piece of cement with a bamboo mat!

And, as I mentioned earlier, there was a coverlet. If I put the coverlet underneath myself to provide a bit of padding, there was no cover. If I put it on top of me, I could feel the bamboo slats. When I tried to wrap myself up like a sandwich, I couldn't breathe! The grade A foam pillow was giving me a stiff neck! I couldn't get comfortable... 10:00 pm, 11:00 pm, midnight... and to make matters worse, my roommate Elizabeth appeared to be out happy as a clam. Finally, around 1:30 am I went out into the landing area, unlocked an unused room and dragged two additional comforters and pillows into our room. I felt like the princess and the pea! I figured they could provide some cushion, and I finally went to sleep! Four hours later, I awoke rested and ready to greet the day.
After last night's dinner, I was a bit apprehensive about breakfast. Sally and Dave are very generous about sharing their Nescafe, and the rice soup with sugar is a good substitute for oatmeal! (Sally told me that some snake was marinating in the big jar on the side of the room, and sure enough...

It took all I had to take this photo!!
Mr. Tong arrived around 7:30, and by 7:45 we were on the road to Simingshan Geological Park.
